MR. PRESIDENT, THIS IS A BIG ONE — ONE OF THE LAST FIVE ADMINISTRATIONS’ FAILURES.

PROBLEM:
The issue above will remain for years if not addressed.

SOLUTION:
Turn this into a win-win situation — unite 10–20 countries with an emergency mindset, joining forces to build perhaps three large critical mineral processing plants.

Facilities such as:

1. One for North America, involving the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

2. One for Europe.

3. One for South America, with participation from the Middle East wherever appropriate.

If you brought all these countries together with the same sense of urgency you used for the vaccine effort during the pandemic — utilizing each nation’s best contribution to the whole — the results could be transformative.

Let’s remember what we accomplished during WWII, when factories increased production sixfold in just seven months. With this many countries united, we can weaken China’s influence while strengthening alliances.

We can extract the minerals, with help from the EPA, in less than a year — we just need the processing capacity. Most of the funding can come from private-sector businesses that depend on these minerals to maintain their manufacturing leadership by moving production to the U.S. or their own regions — not China.

We have many ideas on this and other strategies to reduce dependency on China.
