HIRING & TRAINING BETTER COPS IS NOT MUCH OF AN ISSUE – FIRING BAD COPS IS THE ISSUE

Paul Harvey has it right! (Click link to view video). The real issue today is less about hiring and training and vetting of new police and much more about firing the bad actors and letting the good cops do their job without the burden of police violence and hatred upon them.

We’ve got to get more teeth in legislation to support police chiefs, who could do a great job if they could fire the few bad cops that are poisoning their entire force and the community that the 99% of good cops are trying in all sincerity to serve and protect.

If every police chief in the United States could fire the drug users, alcoholics, bullies, racists and bigots on their force – any officer who has a history of abusing their authority or has a lot of validated complaints in their jacket – you would see the mood on the street change overnight.

The federal government, along with state, county and city governments, should set nationwide standards on what constitutes an offense that merits disciplinary actions all the way up to firing and taking away the offender’s pension. Even if we can’t get rid of the Unions we should create and pass legislation that takes away their power to block a police chief from exercising their professional judgment to remove bad cops.

I think that the “Defund The Police” movement is not really about getting rid of the Police but getting rid of the bad, bullying, racist and corrupt police and letting the good, dedicated, honest police do their job with the full respect and support of the community – even those who are crying “Defund The Police” right now.
