No Reason For Our Health Care System To Be In Shambles

It’s time for us to get back to health care reform in the United States – but it shouldn’t be Congress leading the way since it has already proven that it can’t get it together.

Hillary Clinton and President Obama had the best of intentions – a health care plan for all Americans. That is a noble cause. I don’t begrudge either of them for trying. But they delegated all of the details to the swamp, lobbyists, and all the personal interest lawyers (I mean Congress).

Young people need to have some kind of policy that they start paying for; it should be a policy that covers major problems, and they should be able to go to an urgent care center, if necessary. In fact, we need to develop tens of thousands of urgent care centers around the country.

We also need to lower medical costs – and the way to do that is to get the government out of the medical business. Instead, we should encourage smart, private individuals – people who owe nothing and expect nothing from lobbyists in Washington, D.C.

Why do Americans pay $100 for pills that cost $10 in Canada? That makes absolutely no sense.

I think somebody like Mark Cuban could help show us how to get the government out of the medical business. Health care should be done with no government interference, other than perhaps collecting money from certain individuals or helping the poor get signed up for care and help them than pay for it.

Remember our mantra:

It will not be a simple task to fix our medical and health care problems in this country. But I do think that – between Obamacare and the other attempts to fix our broken system – we have created such a monster with the government being involved that Congress can’t figure out how to fix all the problems and has promised too much that cannot be done immediately.

Let’s be sure we understand: There are going to be a few sacrifices. But there would be a whole lot less if we got rid of the 25 percent bureaucratic costs that Obamacare saddles us with. Take that away and give it to the poor. Let’s just have a subsidy program for the poor; we can fund Medicare more and allow the poor to be covered. I think they need to be covered. I’m a Democrat, and I believe in helping people who cannot help themselves. But under Obamacare, we are helping people who can help themselves and put unnecessary mandates and are making certain parts of the medical industry go to pot.
